Patricia R. Corbin
Licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Patricia is an occupational therapist with a diverse clinical background in various settings and has over 12 years of experience in early intervention (EI) and perinatal health. She is a national speaker, published author, and was recognized as Georgia’s 2023 EI Provider of the Year. She developed The Preeclampsia Project to address the high rate of maternal and infant mortality in Georgia with an occupational therapy lens on promoting healthy lifestyles, managing chronic conditions, and preventing diseases. Patricia earned her doctorate in occupational therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she also serves as an adjunct faculty member.
Patricia has advanced training in pediatric feeding disorders, including SOFFI (Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants), the SOS Approach to Feeding, and certification in Infant Dysphagia. She also has advanced training in complex premature infant interventions and holds certification in emotional regulation and as an autism specialist.
As a passionate advocate for children with diverse abilities, Patricia's approach is deeply influenced by her own journey as the parent of an autistic child. This personal insight drives her commitment to honoring each child’s autonomy, emphasizing a collaborative and respectful environment in therapy. She strives to empower her patients, fostering skills that enhance their independence and overall quality of life.
Patricia's expertise is not only grounded in clinical practice but also in a genuine desire to support families through their unique challenges. She remains dedicated to ongoing professional development, continually seeking innovative methods to enrich her practice and improve outcomes for the children she serves.
Caitlyn Barfield
Licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Caitlyn is an accomplished pediatric occupational therapist known for her unwavering dedication to helping children thrive. With extensive experience in the field, she specializes in assessing and implementing individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique developmental challenges.
Caitlyn's approach combines evidence-based practices with creative activities that engage and motivate young clients, making therapy a fun and effective experience.
Caitlyn is committed to staying current with the latest research and techniques in pediatric therapy, enhancing her ability to foster resilience, independence, and confidence in the children she serves. Through her compassionate and patient-centered approach, Caitlyn continues to make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families.
In her free time Caitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband and young son on their family farm.
Ashley Ahrens-Nguyen
Licensed Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist
Ashley is a dedicated pediatric speech therapist with extensive experience in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). With a passion for helping children overcome communication barriers, she has spent her career working closely with young patients and their families to provide tailored interventions that promote effective communication skills. Ashley holds a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
As a specialist in AAC, Ashley believes that communication is a human right and there are no pre-requisites to accessing augmentative communication systems. Ashley believes in the power of communication and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all children can express themselves confidently.
In her free time, she enjoys gardening, baking bread and spending time with her husband and her young son.
Gus
Licensed Therapy Dog and Good Boy
Gus is a gentle and affectionate Golden Retriever licensed as both a therapy dog and a Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.). With a natural ability to bring comfort and joy to those around him, he has touched the lives of many children in need of support. Gus has completed extensive training through a certified therapy dog program- Alliance of Therapy Dogs in 2019.
In his free time, Gus loves belly rubs, taking naps and hanging out with his family.
